Leadership Scorecard Used in Executive Coaching - Powerful Questions to Ask

In my coaching work with senior leadership, I find that the organization's leaders rarely have the time to reflect on how they are doing.

Coaches are trained to ask questions to help customers with powerful clients gain clarity and understanding. As a trusted advisor to many of my clients learn to ask questions of themselves essential.

How many times you take the time to ask how you are doing as a leader?

One of the best ways to self-reflect is to periodically step back, observe and ask yourself some key questions. Some experts recommend doing this every three to six months, much depends on the nature of your business.

How are you?

Ask yourself how you are doing and what you should do differently and be sure to answer truthfully. As simple as it may seem, many people are shocked by their answers to basic questions of leadership and management.

Leaders must regularly ask questions that seven target areas, according to Robert S. Kaplan, co-author of The Balanced Scorecard. There are no right answers, of course. Some of these questions resonate more than others.

Kaplan assures us that successful executives can continue to improve their performance and prevent serious business problems by stepping back and taking the time to interview you (what to ask the person in the Mirror, Harvard Business Review, December 2006).

Leadership Seven Checkpoints

The seven leading areas should be examined are:

1. Vision and priorities

2. Time management

3. Feedback

4. Succession Planning

5. Assessment and Alignment

6. Resilience under stress

7. Stay true to yourself

Asking questions about how you are doing in these seven areas can be critical to success. The objective is to obtain valuable information on how to get better on their own farms. You can use this checklist of leadership every few months for self-evaluation.

How are you doing in each of these areas of leadership?

Working with an experienced executive coach trained in emotional intelligence and incorporating leadership assessments such as the Bar-On EQ-i and CPI 260 can help you become a fully engaged leader. You can become a leader who models emotional intelligence and social intelligence, and that inspires people to become happily engaged with the strategy and vision of society .......
