When To Ask About Salary

Interview did not ask a question during the initial stages of an interview is "how much vacation I get," before making statements interviewers fringe benefits first. You can also apply the same rule for when to ask for salary.

Although there are exceptions to a rule, the time is right to ask for money and leave it at the last stage of the interview process. This is called "the interview offer."

There are three legs for an interview. It 'good to know that the leg you are standing up so as not to stumble.

Round - interview with human resources (HR)

While you could start a conversation with human resources, is often the first step. This may be the toughest interview you'll get. HR topdog. You're a loser. HR representatives have been trained how to interview. Their intention is to screen outside, not inside the HR recruiter wants to select a handful of candidates to refer to one or more recruiters.

So fasten your seatbelts and do your best to get to the next interview.

Back - an interview with the hiring manager (s)

Unlike the person who introduced you HR, most hiring managers do not know how to conduct an interview, would have preferred to do his job to interview you, and may be even more anxious than they are about the interview process . Because when a manager makes the wrong decision taking, the work that person is on the line.

While the hiring manager is still topdog and you're still losing, you can start taking some control of the interview using the techniques you learned how to read through your columns on the Career Service.

Third stage - the interview offer

You have come a long way, baby, every time you reach the third stage of the interview process with a company. Now, the topdog. The company is losing. Why? You are the candidate that the company wants, that's why. They have invested time and money and discuss interviews you. Now, I'm ready to make an offer.

When you ask for fringe benefits

This is your chance to seek compensation - salary and fringe benefits - and negotiate the offer. Many of you are afraid to do so. But not a big deal to ask for more money when you understand that, as a car or a house, you are a big ticket item.

When buying a car or home, you do not pay the asking price? No bid for the car, just as the employer is making a bid for your services. We expect to negotiate wages and benefits.

Bottom line: you need to point the conversation to the company during the first two legs of the interview process. Talk only about the company and how you can help. Avoid talking about money until ...

... The third stage, "the interview offer." Then go for it! This is your chance to negotiate a compensation .......
